This carbon monoxide alarm from Sleep Safe comes with a 7 year warranty and built-in battery. Ideal for homes, caravans, and boats, the alarm warns against dangerous levels of the odourless, tasteless and colourless gas of carbon monoxide.

It comes featured with a 85dB audible alarm, 3 LED readouts (Power, Alarm and Fault), alarm memory function, 7 year sealed-for-life battery and a 7 year warranty.

The SleepSafe 7 Year Carbon Monoxide Alarm (COA7) is installed inside a caravan, motorhome or campervan living space to detect dangerous carbon monoxide (CO) gas from fuel-burning appliances.

It is designed to be fitted:

• Inside the habitation area

• Close to (but not directly above) gas appliances, such as:

  • Space heaters

  • Water heaters

  • Cookers

  • Gas fridges

• Or in the sleeping area to provide early warning while occupants are asleep

This alarm is suitable for leisure vehicles using gas, diesel or solid-fuel appliances and provides 7 years of sealed battery protection.

How is it fitted

Safety note:
Carbon monoxide alarms are life-safety devices. Install in accordance with manufacturer guidance and vehicle safety recommendations.

Before you start

• Choose a suitable mounting position (see guidance below)

• No electrical connection required — sealed battery

• Tools required: screwdriver or drill (for wall mounting), pencil

Recommended mounting positions

✔ Wall mounting (preferred):

• 1–3 metres horizontally from a fuel-burning appliance

• At least 15 cm below the ceiling

• At least 15 cm above door/window level

✔ Ceiling mounting (if recommended by vehicle layout):

• At least 30 cm away from the wall

Do NOT install:

• Directly above cookers or heaters

• In cupboards or enclosed spaces

• Next to windows, vents or extractor fans

• In damp areas (e.g. shower room)

Step-by-step fitting

1. Mark the fixing points

   • Hold the alarm against the wall or ceiling.

   • Mark the screw positions through the mounting holes.

2. Fix the mounting plate

   • Drill pilot holes if required.

   • Secure the mounting plate using the supplied screws.

3. Attach the alarm

   • Twist or clip the alarm body onto the mounting plate until secure.

4. Activate the alarm

   • Remove the activation tab (if present) to start the sealed battery.

   • The alarm will emit a confirmation sound/light.

5. Test the alarm

   • Press and hold the TEST button.

   • Confirm the alarm sounds correctly.
