The Whale Electrical Assembly 1.5 kW (AK1280) is an internal electric heating module that fits inside a Whale Expanse space heater.
It provides the 230 V electric heating function (1.5 kW output) and is used either as a replacement electric element or when converting/repairing the electric side of the heater.

It installs within the heater’s service/electronics compartment and is not user-accessible once fitted.

How is it fitted

Important safety notice:
This component operates on 230 V mains electricity. Installation must be carried out by a competent or qualified installer. Always isolate 12 V and 230 V supplies before fitting.

Before you start

• Switch off and isolate 230 V mains and 12 V DC supplies.

• Allow the heater to cool fully.

• Confirm compatibility with Whale Expanse space heater models.

• Tools typically required: screwdriver set, insulated tools, torque driver (recommended).

Step-by-step fitting

1. Access the space heater

   • Locate the Whale Expanse space heater (commonly under a seat, bed, or cupboard).

   • Remove the service cover/panel to expose the internal components.

2. Locate the electric heating bay

   • Identify the electric element mounting position inside the heater casing.

   • Disconnect and remove the existing electrical assembly if replacing.

3. Install the 1.5 kW electrical assembly

   • Position the AK1280 electrical assembly into the designated mounting slot.

   • Ensure it sits fully and correctly aligned.

4. Secure the assembly

   • Fix the unit using the manufacturer’s mounting screws or retaining points.

   • Do not overtighten.

5. Connect the wiring

   • Connect the 230 V supply wiring to the electrical assembly as per the Whale wiring diagram.

   • Ensure all terminals are tight and cables are routed clear of hot surfaces.

6. Reassemble the heater

   • Refit internal covers and the external service panel.

   • Check seals and fixings are correctly seated.

7. Restore power & test

   • Reconnect 12 V and 230 V supplies.

   • Test heater operation in electric mode via the control panel.

   • Confirm correct heat output and no fault indications.
